Melody Marie Bender - Glendive -
Melody Marie Bender assisted in the operation of the family motels in the Glendive area and worked a short time for Howards's Glendive Greenouse. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and her friends.
Merody, 28, died at her home Thursday, November 22, 1984. The cause of death was from complications during birth of her daughter.
Born in Bismarck, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Irene Bender, she came to Glendive with her parents in 1956. She attended Glendive schools and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Ashley Bender of Glendive; her father, of Glendive; her mother, Mrs. Bob Stein of Santa Anna, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Dean (Kim) George of Glendive; three brothers, Jay of GLendive, Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Jim of Giddings, Texas; and her grandmothers, Cordelia Degenstein of Tacoma, Wash, and Ottilia Bender of Mandan, N.D.
Roasary will be recited 7 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Silvernale-Silha Mortuary. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with burial in Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive.

I guess I wasn't aware that Melody died until I happened to see her tombstone up at the Glendive cemetery while looking for another's. I later looked up her obituary using micro-fiche at the Billings library. She apparently died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 1984, at her home.Jo Anne (JoJo Jonutis) Herem

Melody passed away after giving birth to a baby girl. The baby was only a few days old and Melody experienced complications. Her mother raised the baby.Michael Hughes
