In Memory

Andrea Ames (Houska)

Andrea "Andy" Huschka, 62, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at her home in Glendive.

Andy was born Aug. 2, 1956, in Williston, North Dakota, to LeRoy and Alida (Moen) Ames. She lived in northwest North Dakota until the age of seven when her and her family moved to Glendive. Andy was raised and educated in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1974. Following high school, Andy married and was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Shelly Dawn and Jenny Mae. Over the years Andy and her family lived in other areas before landing in Bakersfield, California. After a year in Bakersfield, Andy's older brother Arnie moved there with the military and to help take care of his sister and niece Jenny, whom he helped care for until his untimely passing. Andy continued to live in Bakersfield until moving back to Glendive to be close to her family. While in Glendive, Andy reconnected with a childhood friend by coincidence, and it resulted in her marrying the love of her life, Keith Huschka on Feb. 10, 2007, in Glendive. They were blessed to share these many years together.

Andy enjoyed time at the lake, boating and fishing and occasionally playing the machines. She loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to family functions — especially her travels to Bakersfield to spend time with her grandson, Ethan. Andy was also very involved with her church family, helping with funeral lunches and the annual lutefisk feed at the church. Above all else, she was completely devoted to her daughter, Jenny. Andy always had plenty of help and support from her family, especially her brother, Arnie. No matter what was going on in Andy's life, Jenny came first.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Alida; her brother, Arnie "Bimbo" Ames; two brothers-in-law, Bob McLain and Dick Simonton.

She is survived by her loving husband, Keith Huschka of Glendive/Dickinson; two daughters, Shelly (Haggerty) Poon, son-in-law Damian Poon and grandson Ethan of Bakersfield, California, and Jenny Mae (Haggerty) Stumborg of Glendive; three sisters, Lyla (Larry) Mitchell of Sheridan, Wyoming, LaNette Simonton of Glendive and Chris McLain of Shakopee, Minnesota; mother-in-law Lorraine Huschka of Helena; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
